Use of Slurry in the Wafer Fabrication
Slurry is a viscous fluid used for the sawing process of silicon ingots and the production of wafers. Silicon carbide (SiC) is a powdery solid component and it is responsible for the abrasiveness and the performance of the cutting process - polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a liquid component and serves as a carrier and coolant. The grain size distribution changes during the sawing process and the slurry gets contaminated. To be able to reuse the slurry, it must be refined and processed.
