Company history

The SiC Group has its roots in the corporate group AKW Apparate + Verfahren Holding GmbH und Co. KG ("AKW A + V-Group"). This firm has more than 40 years of experience in the fields of process engineering and plant construction for mineral conditioning.

Since 1999, the AKW A + V Group has co-developed with a business partner a process of mechanical wet separation of SiC and PEG using hydrocyclones for industrial use. This process is protected by a European patent. In 1999 the industrial conditioning of slurry for wafer production started in a small plant erected in Novara, Italy.

SiC Processing (Germany) GmbH was founded in Bautzen in 2000. Its first plant was built in 2001 and the industrial recovery and conditioning of SiC and PEG started at this site. Since then, the SiC Group has expanded its production capacities substantially at multiple locations worldwide and it built plants in Germany, Norway, China, and the USA.
